Tip #1 - Your video masterpiece is useless unless it is uploaded, shared and distributed. Get your video off your hard drive and posted on sites where you target market can see it!
Tip #2 - Your video can be "leveraged" by posting it to many different sites - from YouTube and other video hosting sites, to social media networks, and to your own website or blog. Leverage your time and effort by cross-posting your video. Good video distribution = Good visibility for you and your business.
Tip #3 - Decide where you video will "live." Video hosting options are numerous and include YouTube (free), Screencast.com, Audio Acrobat, and Amazon S3. Each has their own distinct advantages, but Amazon S3 tends to be the most affordable of the paid hosting options.
Tip #4 - YouTube is a great place to start with video, both because the hosting is free, and because YouTube offers an excellent platform for sharing your video to social media outlets. In addition, you can use the "embed code" that YouTube provides to post the video on your own website or blog.
Tip #5 - There are dozens of video hosting sites in addition to YouTube. All serve basically the same purpose, but may appeal to different audiences. Don't feel like you have to post your video to every video hosting site. Pick your top two or three and go with those.
Tip #6 - There are also paid video distribution services such as TubeMogul and TrafficGeyser. Both will upload and share your video to dozens of video sites at once. These are worth considering if you want to automate your video distribution.
Tip #7 - Common YouTube mistakes include: not making your video public; not customizing your channel; not using keywords in title; not sharing to social sites; and not using embed code or links that YouTube provides.
