Fear of Success

In a recent post on the Book Yourself Solid blog, Lisa Wilder challenged us to share our biggest personal challenges that get in the way of our business success.
I’d have to say that mine is fear of success.
Before I read Lorraine Cohen’s article on the subject of fear, I thought what I was most afraid of was failure. And I certainly still have that fear, too. But I’ve realized that fear of success is holding me back even more.
One of the tenets of the Law of Attraction is that you get what you focus on. And so envisioning success, and taking inspired action accordingly, will get you success. Except that I’m stuck worrying about what I will be like when I’m successful — will I forget what it is like to be like I am now, still trying to figure it out? Will I become a jerk who thinks she’s somehow better than those less successful? Will success/money/having it all change who I am?
My logical mind says of course not. I didn’t change as a person when I went from successful corporate advisor to unemployed. And so why would I change as I move the other direction? Of course emotions, especially fears, are seldom logical.
Although I think it did help to at least write about it here…
What are your fears?
