Mozilla Thunderbird Rocks
By: Kimberly Strachan
Freeze and crash, it seemed was my daily (sometimes hourly) experience using Microsoft Outlook. Then my computer totally froze up. I swore that I would change email software, but alas, to learn a new email program just seemed too daunting when I had lost time without my computer and had to get back online fast after the repair.
Then a couple of months later, it started again. It doesn’t normally
‘freeze’ in Arizona, but my computer totally crashed and the hard drive
had to be replaced. I was impressed with Mozilla Firefox, which was my
browser of choice, so I thought I’d try Mozilla Thunderbird (it’s
Free!). It is great! Although, Outlook had rules to sort out my
various In Boxes from various clients, Thunderbird far exceeded these
capabilities, sorting all the junk/spam out automatically and I have
experienced no lock outs or shut downs on my system since.
Thunderbird also offers different extensions, such as a calendar
etc. and I haven’t yet skimmed the surface in downloading all of these,
however, by just installing the basics, it has made my life a whole lot
easier!

I ditto Kimberly’s recommendation… I too downloaded Thunderbird several months ago and find it outperforms Outlook… if someone could tell how to delete outlook off my computer…
Thunderbirds features enable me to save time in dealing with email. I recently recommended it to my list and clients. I’m still exploring all the different features and extensions but really like the RSS capability.
Using RSS to receive information over ezines eliminates much of the spam issues.
Would love to hear how others are using this program to increase their efficiency.
