Networking is hardly a “Dirty Wordâ€

Some people dread talking to strangers, trading business cards and hanging back from those “networking fiends†who actually seem to LIKE this!
A quick stat said almost 2 Billion dollars is generated through networking. 80% of jobs are found through networking, word of mouth referrals, so and so told 2 friends and so on and so on… remember the old shampoo commercial! I’m dating myself!
In my communication with Transition/Career coaching clients who go to networking events or anywhere you meet people; they report back that, "If you bring a negative attitude-you get back negative vibrations-like attracts like."
If you look at each networking event, and say-“hey, I might meet someone who…." OR If you want to leave after 45 mins-hey you got their follow up. Now, it’s your turn…. whether you think you can…or think you can’t, you’re right! ~ Henry Ford
A positive attitude is a “mustâ€!
I’m in 6 face to face networking groups and 4 online! I’m one of “those that like meeting new folks!â€
But, if you truly don’t want to stay at all. Maybe networking isn’t te BEST fit for you?
Are you good on the phone? Email? Use your strengths!
If dealing out business cards or trying to cram an hour presentation into 2-3 minutes is not your thing - then don’t pretend it is!
Happy Networking!
