The type of tasks you should delegate will become obvious quickly. Below is a list of commonly delegated tasks. I bet you can add a few to this list!

If you’re still struggling, consider hiring a business coach to help you walk through the process of identifying what you should do personally and what you should begin to delegate (yes, I’m a great coach for blasting people past these issues!).
People often ask how my office “staff†is setup? I generally have a part time assistant who comes to my office. There are certain things that I like handled “in houseâ€. I also use a virtual consultant to design my web. Another helps me develop my ideas, build my web content, class notes, etc., and who helps put my work in a professional format.
I choose individuals whose style is complementary to mine. What do I mean by complementary style? In DISC terms I am a High D – a dominant, bottom-line, results oriented, big picture person. I appreciate the details (well, sort of) but don’t want to get bogged down in them. I move quickly, make fast decisions and like to act on them. So, I prefer to hire people who are both a DISC High S – steady, calm, loyal, patient, methodical and task oriented, and a DISC High C – extreme attention to detail, logical, have high standards and desire to do things correctly the first time.
Why is this important? These two styles thrive on the details that I want done (by someone other than me). They work to create order out of chaos (which, as a High D, I’m good at creating) and they do it in a quiet and unassuming fashion. Also, and this is key, I don’t need a replacement for me, I need someone who likes to do what I don’t enjoy or are not good at!
There is a simple and inexpensive tool that I use when wanting to hire an assistant. I also work with my clients who are in a hiring phase. It is called the Role Behavior Analysis™ (RBA). The RBA profiles the behaviorial needs of the task/job/role vs. profiling the person, which is where the DiSC® Profile comes in.
In a few minutes you can respond to the RBA and get a clear picture of the behaviorial demands of the task/project/job that you want done. With this information in hand you will be well positioned to hire the best person to support you and your business growth. If you want more information on the DiSC® Profile and the Role Behavior Analysis™ (RBA) check out www.internetassessments.com.
To your continued success!
