Voice Mail Greeting

Add a greeting to your voice mail, which will market your business. “Hi, this is Alicia Smith, the DISC Ninja. Please leave your name, phone number, date, and the location you are calling from. I will return your call within 24 hours. I invite you to visit me on my website at http://www.discninja.com/ or e-mail me at info@aliciasmith.com. Thank-you so much for calling, and have a fantastic day!”

Here’s an example used by Jerry of Ben and Jerry’s.

“Hi, this is Jerry. How ya doing? Hey, thanks for calling. Uh. I’ll be in on Tuesday, starting at about 10 or so, hanging out for the day. I won’t be in on Wednesday. I’ll be in Thursday some of the time. And I won’t be in on Friday. And then Saturday and Sunday I will be at the Ben and Jerry’s One World, One Heart Festival, at Sugarbush, Vermont. . . . Free! Incredible. Five-dollar parking charge. Carpool. Bring all your friends. Come say hi. I’ll be there. I can’t wait. If you need to speak to a person, . . . hit zero. Otherwise, you can leave me a message. Hope everything’s good. See you. Bye.”

Remember when you record your message be sure to make your voice “speak” to your target audience. Pay attention to if your target market is formal or informal. Imagine an ideal client and speak to them as you make your recording.
Here are two examples from my Pilates instructor who is also a client of mine, Jennifer Wiles of http://www.fitflowpilates.com/.
