Why is dreaming important? What are dreams? How are our dreams born?
Dreams are the whispers of the soul. Sometimes they are born out of triumphs and trials, sometimes out of desire for fun and joy!

Dreaming is important because our dreams keep us moving ahead along our soul path. Our passion for dreams gives us the courage to overcome challenges that in turn help us complete our soul tasks. When we are on the journey of our dreams, we are also assisting others. By accomplishing our dreams, we give birth to a life that can become a catalyst for opportunities and change for others.

Our dreams are sometimes born out of pain. For example, if one of your dreams is to use your voice, you may find yourself in circumstances that stop you from speaking up. When you reach the point where it is more painful to remain silent than to use your voice, you will use your voice. You will learn to overcome the challenges that stand in the way of your self-expression. In this way, you will complete your soul task. You will meet people along the way who will support you, and in this way; too, you will touch the lives of others.

How to connect with your dreams

There are many ways to connect with your dreams. One simple way is to connect with your right brain to bring out long buried dreams. You can do this by making a “vision board.” Some people call this a “dream board” or a “treasure map.”

Making Vision Boards

A vision board is your doorway to your inner dream world. Here are the steps to making a vision board:

Buy a collage

All you need to do is buy a collage from a craft store. The colour you choose for your collage will say something about how you are feeling. If you choose red, for example, you may be in need of stimulation and excitement. White may mean you long for spirituality and solitude.

Collect pictures

Find some old magazines and start cutting out pictures. Don’t think too much about what you are doing—just choose the pictures that speak to you. You might choose a picture of a little girl, but without understanding why you picked that one. Later you may discover that you need to spend more time with children—you may yearn for childlike fun, or you may want to connect with your inner little girl or explore girlish pursuits or adventures. Just keep on clipping the pictures that appeal to you. You can also cut out words that speak to you, for example, visions, dreams, and any words that resonate with you. Collect them all.

Paste them

Place the pictures and words you have collected on your vision board. Put the board away and look at it after few days to see if you want to add or change anything. If not, then go ahead and paste the pictures and words in the order you choose.

Look at your vision board as if you were a stranger to it, and identify the themes that emerge from your life. My friend Crystal, after looking at her vision board, realized that this year was going to be about business success in her life. Last year, her vision board was about fun, adventure, and friendships. Sure enough, she attracted many new friends and made powerful connections. I thank her for the beautiful feminine energy she exudes. You, too, can connect with your inner wise self to get a clearer picture of what message your dream self holds for you on your vision board.

If you need help understanding your vision board, please feel free to send it to me by e-mail. I would love to see the vision board you made for yourself this year. I believe that you know what it means for you. I promise to get back to you within a week or so.

  1. Dr. Jeanette Raymond Says:

Dreams are indeed useful ways of connecting with your unconscious and finding parts of yourself that you never knew about. I like to think of dreams as inner healers and guides, showing you how to fulfill your potential.
