Once you’ve set some basic systems in place such as deciding on HOW you want your work week to look, created a project planner, and/or created a timeline, the second key is implementation.
- Transfer you new work week schedule to your diary or online planner i.e. block out the times.
- Tell your clients and colleagues that you are only available on particular days of the week/times for certain types of appointments.
- If you’re on any training courses/programs book that time in too to complete any homework, lessons, or attend teleclasses.
- Put your project timelines into your overall project planner, and on your calendar if necessary. For example, if one of your projects is to create a launch a new product, there are various steps you need to do before you launch your product, such as write your product, prepare it for delivery, write a sales page etc. All these are different stages, and can be added to your timeline – and into your calendar as an appointment.
- Treat every single appointment as if it were your most important client that you have scheduled the appointment with. Turn up on time, give it the full amount of time you’ve allocated to it, and focus on the task in hand whether that’s a teleclass, preparing for a meeting, or is actually your most important client !

For 2009 implementing this type of time management plan is one of my biggest goals. One small tasks I’ve had to add at least once a week is blogging.

Hi Collette
I’m glad you’re allocating your time in this way – it really is most productive. When you have a plan for accomplishing your goals, achieving them becomes easy!
