What Do You and Billie Jean King Have in Common?

Every week I talk with entrepreneurs who are “content experts” in their field but who don’t understand why their online “strategy” isn’t drawing in clients. Pardon my directness but, truth is, they don’t HAVE a strategy beyond getting their website up and maybe publishing their newsletter.
If you’re passionate about creating TRANSFORMATION in your clients’ lives and see the internet as the perfect vehicle to help you do that . . .
. . . but so far your efforts HAVEN’T paid off in the way you’d envisioned . . .
. . . then I want to tell you what’s been MISSING in your strategy.
I’ll explain it this way -
When I was a kid back in the -well, we don’t have to say EXACTLY which decade, now do we?- anyhow, back then tennis was very popular. Like lots of kids in my town, I took lessons every summer (“Shake hands with the racket”), and I loved the game.
Now, there were lots of people out on the courts who had the racket, the tennis shoes, the wrist bands and the little sport skirts, looking just like Billie Jean King or Chris Evert.
The problem was, having the right “equipment” for the game didn’t equate to getting RESULTS on the court. It’s certainly a necessary starting point, but
true mastery required that you learn how to USE the equipment effectively.
And I see the same thing happening a lot with people’s online marketing systems. (Maybe even YOURS?)
Having a website, a free giveaway and a newsletter doesn’t automatically mean you’re getting more (or even ANY) SALES from them.
Just like with tennis, you have to understand how to use the equipment correctly. You have to know ESSENTIAL things like:
** How to track your statistics, why it’s so important and what to do with the numbers
** How to choose the right topic for your free giveaway – and how to present it in a mouth-watering way
** Crucial layout and formatting tips so your website, free giveaway and newsletter all “reel ‘em in”
** How to write newsletter articles that provide value AND market your products and programs at the same time
** How to turn your website, giveaway and ezine from separate online pieces into a seamless, magnetic, lead-generating system
Truthfully, if you don’t make changes NOW, your online results WON’T get any better.
And since I’m being totally honest here, I’ll say that the wise entrepreneur knows both her expertise AND her limitations. And knows when to ask for help. (Billie Jean didn’t teach herself to play at a world-class level. You can bet she had lots of mentors and coaching.)
