Where Is Money in Your List of Values

Do you have a list of your values written out? It sounds like a simple exercise but it’s actually quite a powerful way to help you set a new direction with your life and business.

That’s because your beliefs and actions are always energetically and spiritually organized to support your values. In other words, what you value is what will show up for you in your life and business.

So, this morning I took one of my horses for a walk around the neighborhood, as I reflected on what I want my top values to be. At first it feels a little strange to insert a new value at the top of the list. Or, to down shift something I’ve held as most important into a lower ranking spot. But in doing so, I can already feel my energy and creativity reorganizing itself around my 2010 values list.

If you’re someone who has believed that you can only make money if you work hard, or that you have to sacrifice something important to you to make more then this exercise will help you enormously.

All you need to do is decide where making money is on your values list. Whether it hasn’t been there at all prior to this, or it’s been low down on the list, I recommend moving it up into your top three or four values. I think you’ll be amazed at how quickly you feel a shift in your energy and creativity around this important topic. By becoming clear on money’s priority in your life and business, you’ll stop any conflict between it and the other values you hold as dear.

I heard a great piece of advice recently – a speaker to said that most of us inadvertently say things like “I’m not in this business for the money”, which obviously sets up that exact thing. He suggested saying “I’m in this business to make money” as WELL as “I’m in this business to change people’s lives” (or serve my clients)
