Whether personally or professionally you can either be at cause and create the life you want or you can be at the effect of anything and everything that life happens to throw at you. You’d be really surprised at how many people live on the effect side of life and don’t understand why their days are not joyful and happy. It’s up to you to take charge of your own destiny.
You have the most powerful tool you will ever need in the 3” between your ears!
Namely your mind! It creates just about everything that happens to you in life.

Whether in your personal or professional life you want to be living a life that you really love.
Are you living the life you envisioned 5 years ago? What are you envisioning for your life and/or business 5 years from now?
The past few weeks have been very interesting and I’ve had the honor of actually connecting with a lot of people who receive my Monday Motivator and newsletter who until now I didn’t know.

Having spent 4 days exhibiting my best selling book at Book Expo. America it’s been a very interesting, energizing yet exhausting couple of weeks which is also the reason there was no copy for the blog last week.
The one thing that came across very clearly from talking to the dozens of people who stopped at the booth, is that women are still not totally OK with making themselves number One.

Don’t wait for the ultimate things to happen, celebrate each and every milestone. It’s the small steps that get us to where we want to go yet most people forget to do something nice for themselves as they walk down the path. Don’t wait to have a party. Every step toward achieving the joy, prosperity and abundance you want can be documented and celebrated in some way. This is for you and you are important.

I heard it again this week. I’m sorry I failed. Mistakes are not failures they are some of the best learning experiences we can have. They propel us forward and push us into new avenues of awareness.
Be grateful for mistakes, whether negative or positive there’s always something to learn. Each will empower you and allow you to grow much more into who you want to be and how you want your business to be perceived.

One of the most important things I’ve discovered over the years is to give myself time off to think if I’m feeling stuck or overwhelmed.
Do something outside of the office that will clear your head. Go for a walk, sit in the park and do some deep breathing, take your dog for a run if you have one, anything that will get you out of the office space for a while.
Take an hour or two if necessary – or even a whole day if you’ve been working overtime. Nothing will fall apart and you will feel more focused and relaxed and able to get back to what you were doing with a much clearer mind.

I recently went to an award event at which six or seven women were honored for their efforts in one area or another. The reason I’m writing about it here is that this becomes very important to how you are perceived by people in business as well as in life.
The organizers of the event had written lovely, positive accolades about each woman based on what they had achieved which were read to the room by the MC for the day before handing out the award.

Because of answers I was receiving from clients recently I asked the question “How do you define yourself?” The answers led me to write about this really important question this week. I started asking people, mainly women, around me the same question.
It saddened me to hear some of the answers I received. One woman defined herself by her husband and children, another by her level of financial success, one by being the daughter of a well known personality and so forth. Only a few women defined themselves just by being who they are.

I hope you all had a great April and wonderful first 4 months of this year. How time flies when we’re having fun and doing what we love☺ At least I hope you all are!
I was recently asked to write an article and since it was professional, after giving it some thought decided to write about how we sometimes struggle because we’re not always using our strengths.
We all have strengths and weaknesses, whether in business or in life and people often spend time attempting to bring their weakest areas up to the same level as their strengths. I really don’t encourage this; it’s not the best way to go!

I keep hearing the words “we’re having a recession, things are so expensive, everything is worse than it ever was” yet people are still buying their Starbucks, smoking cigarettes and eating out.
If you know anything about me, you know that I encourage people to look at the bright positive side. To look at what you do have, not what you don’t have. Even if things are tougher for you at present, I encourage you to make a decision to look at this period of time as a time to redefine, rather than a time of recession. I recently heard someone say, “Although there’s a recession, I choose not to take part.” What a great way to look at things.
I know everything is relative however, if you have food on the table, a roof over your head, reasonable health and clothes on your back remember to give gratitude for what you do have instead of wishing for what you don’t have.
