I’m totally psyched about our Light the Word: Birthing Your Destiny retreat coming up in April! This is just the beginning of bringing together a phenomenal group of talented women who are going to literally transform this planet! Just this week, I’m witnessing the miracles that happen when women put their talents, resources and gifts together! It’s incredible!
The old paradigm that said, “I’ve got to do everything myself” or “If she’s that talented, why should I bother?” is out the window, my friends! The future is about working together synergistically and allowing miracles to happen. That’s what this event is all about — bringing talented women together and watching God work miracles through us!
I have noticed as I go about my mission of lighting the world by helping gifted people get their messages out, that many abandon their desires to make a difference for one simple reason. They’re just trying to survive. They’re so busy trying to make this month’s bills that they feel like they can’t possibly focus on what brings them joy — especially if they can’t directly see how that’s going to make them money.
I know how this feels — been there, done that — for a lot of years. But, I’ve noticed an interesting phenomenon. The year I started SheLovesGod.com (2000) is the year things started turning around for us financially. I put my heart, time and effort into making a positive impact on the world and God repaid me handsomely and exponentially over time. In Luke 10:7 Jesus told His disciples as he sent them out without purse or script that they would have food and drink, “for the labourer is worthy of his hire.” God takes care of His own.
I believe that God leaves symbols in nature that we can examine and apply to our lives. Whether it’s lessons from my garden or from a trip hiking through Zion’s National Park, there is always something significant to learn from God’s creations.
In my recent trip to St. George, Utah, my friend Judy Hansen, took me hiking in Zion’s National Park. This short 2-minute video on achieving your dreams is just one of the “aha moments” I had that week.
This evening I came up with a fun little exercise that was very revealing. I made a list of all the people who have impacted my life. Out to the right of each name, I jotted down the main way(s) each person affected me. As I did so, I saw a definite pattern. I went back to childhood, forward through time, and found the people I love, respect and value have come into my life for one or more of the following reasons:
To encourage me to believe in myself and my gifts (10 people)
To help me develop skills (6 people)
To facilitate spiritual growth or act as spiritual mentors (6 people)
I was talking with my friend Phil Davis today, and he made an important observation. In a nuthsell, he said that when we start taking credit for our own successes, the weight of the world descends upon our shoulders. If we think we’re the ones making things happen, then we feel we must keep on making it happen. But, the moment we step back in awesome gratitude for the miracles we are allowed to witness, the weight is lifted from our shoulders. We’re no longer responsible for making everything right in the world.
I’ve spent the last week digging in my garden and reading my favorite high school English teacher’s old journals and poetry. Linda Hawkins died from the effects of a bone marrow transplant two years after my class graduated. She left behind a legacy that couldn’t possibly be measured by human minds. Her students still talk about her hilarious personality (standing on her desk and squawking like a bird to bring a class to order) and her ability to inspire creativity in the young.
I would not be an author today had it not been for Linda Hawkins. She taught me to put my heart on the line when writing, but more importantly she taught me to trust my instincts. In the last week, I’ve learned even more from Mrs. Hawkins. As a resu1t, I’ve decided we spend the first 40 years of our lives discovering who we are and the time remaining either
Be You! Who you are at the core is beautiful, perfect, and divine. Let the “gunk” fall away and be the perfect you. In this video, Lisa Rae Preston and I discuss how being who you are will attract to you the right people who belong in your life . . . customers, friends, associates, etc.
You’ve probably heard of books like The 4-Hour Work Week and The E-Myth. They teach entrepreneurs how to delegate and liberate themselves from the day-to-day operations of their business so they can do what they’ve always dreamed of doing — sit back and watch the revenues roll in. It’s the great American dream – right?
Here’s something few people talk about … when you get to that point, what do you do with yourself? Sure, you think you’ll travel, you’ll see the world, you’ll take up golf or painting. And that’s all great. But if you’re a work-a-holic who has finally been able to delegate the majority of the day-to-day tasks of your business, there’s a lot of junk that goes on in your head when shifting from “doing” to “being.”
This is the fifth video segment in the series I did with Lisa Rae Preston on “Branding Yourself, Becoming Popular and Developing a Fan Base.” In it we discuss how to strike a balance between what you love doing and earning money. I’m getting so many positive comments on these videos. My daughter Laurel truly is a creative genius.
