A well-designed website is not only a thing of beauty, but a joy to use. So how do you design a website that keeps people coming back?

Designed with the same principles it espouses, this book was fun to read, filled with great examples and crystal-clear explanations. You'll probably need the assistance of a good web designer to implement the suggestions, but the design concepts are straightforward and well-illustrated.

I found the first half of the book to be the most useful (the second half is mostly for web designers.) The author's basic design principles are presented, getting you into the head of your average user, and making you more aware of how that user will respond to what is on your page. Then come the practical guidelines for implementation, along with "before-and-after" examples of some well-known websites.

I found myself reading and re-reading sections of the book to make sure I really got the concept and could apply it to my website. And I certainly enjoyed the author's sense of humor. I'd put this book among those at the top of my most-recommended book list.
