Find Your Great Work is a unique book, designed to help us let go of our usual busywork and point us to more creative, motivated, and inspired work. It delves deep into the self-filtering and personal paradigms we are usually unaware of having. Brilliant in its simplicity, using just twelve key mapping tools, this book helps identify those underlying factors that unconsciously drive the choices and actions we take, and shift our thinking to a place where great work is truly possible.
The book begins with an exploration of the self-defining moments in our lives, role models we aspire to, internal assumptions and external forces that influence our thinking. A candid examination of where we are spending our time, and how much of that is truly focused on what feels like
great work, offers further insights.
Next, a series of maps helps us expand the horizons of what kind of great work is possible, then choose from among those possibilities the path that honors what is most important to us. A visualization exercise writes the story of the great work we want to do, with several variations.
From there, the book leads us to action. Identifying where we can take bolder steps toward great work, what kind of help and support we need, and finally, defining the next step to take to get started.
I found this book easy to read and use. The exercises are deceptively simple, and excellent examples accompany each. With relatively little effort, I achieved significant insights into my own great work. I recommend this book for anyone who feels they could be doing bigger things!
