Sign Me Up!: A Marketer's Guide to Creating Email Newsletters That Build Relationships and Boost Sales
is a new book by Matt Blumberg & Michael Mayor with Tami Monahan Forman & Stephanie A. Miller. I've read the book from cover to cover in a few days and thought it was an excellent book for those looking to understand the marketing reasons why running a permission-based email newsletter can help build your business.
Now, most business people (both small and large enterprises) already know about the power of ezines and don't need to be sold on the concept. Thankfully, this book is a "how to book" at its core.
One of the reasons I think it's a great book is because it marries the street smarts of a guy who knows quite a bit about deliverability (Matt Blumberg) along with a guy who knows quite a bit about email list building & list rentals (Mike Mayor). You'll not only learn how to build a great list, but how to get those emails into the inboxes of your customer's or prospects.
Even though the book is clearly a promotional tool to help build the Return Path Empire, it is certainly worth buying and reading for every legitimate email marketer out there. You'd be hard pressed to not find literally dozens of tidbits of actionable ideas that you could run with immediately from only a few minutes of reading.
They've also included some case studies with eBay, Amazon.com, iVillage and more.
My Recommendation:
"Sign Me Up!" gets two thumbs up from me. If you want to learn how to write & design great ezines, build your list, increase your response and pick up some deliverability tips, this is $17.95 USD well invested.
