Open a Research and Development Team (R & D Team). An R & D team is a group of folks who you invite to join you in developing your products, programs, and services. Your R & D Team may be as small as ten people or as large as 1,000+ people.
One to two times per month, call on your R & D Team to provide you with insight and feedback and to call upon their wisdom so that your business is built and will be sustainable over time.
We do recommend that you call on your R & D team at least two times per month, as they will provide you with valuable information, and they will tell others about what is going on for you in your business. As your business grows, you will want to continue to add people to your list so that you have a large cross section of people, new ideas, and perspectives.
A sample invitation letter may look like this:
Dear Steve,
As one of most trusted colleagues, I am writing to invite you to join my Research and Development Team (R & D Team.)
The purpose of my R & D Team will be for me to ask you for your input and feedback as I am developing products, program, and services for my business.
Here is how it works:
One to two times per month, I will contact you by e-mail with 2 - 3 questions regarding my business. While not required, I will be asking you to respond with your ideas, suggestions, and feedback.
If you would like to join my R & D Team, simply reply to this e-mail, putting the words “YES to R & D” in the subject line. I will then add you to the e-mail list for my team.
