The dodo bird, as many of you will remember from 4th grade science, became extinct because of its inability to adapt to changing times.
So how can your business avoid the same fate?
Whether you intend to become a full-fledged "internet marketer" or not, you still need to go 21st century and get online.
The Net is a vital -and unavoidable- part of our culture now. Even my 83-year-old father surfs the Web.
To grow your business effectively, you can't bury your head in the sand. (Oh, wait, I'm mixing my bird metaphors here.) You may be offering massage or pet
sitting or some other service that requires face to face contact. Never mind - people still expect you to be on the Web, and are a little skeptical of your credibility if you're not. Or they never even find you because they did a Google search and your name didn't come up.
Here are 3 basic ways to launch (or increase) your web exposure.
Pick one and learn how to use it effectively.
1) Article Marketing
Becoming a "published author" demonstrates your expertise as well as gives people a way to get a taste of what you have to offer.
Resource: Here's a thread of (you guessed it)
articles on article marketing that you'll find helpful.
2) Press Releases
These puppies offer invaluable long-term web exposure and provide a path for journalists (as well as clients) to find you. Press coverage has the added bonus of being *about* you instead of *by* you, so it has an increased "authority factor."
Resource: "
How to Create Call-to-Action Press Releases - Even If You're Not a Writer" on July 30th will be a combination teleseminar plus "press release clinic" where I'll critique your submissions.
3) Social Networking
Facebook, Twitter, Linked In are powerful ways to create lots of connection and generate "buzz." And you can meet some really cool, influential people too
- without ever leaving home!
Resource: Nancy Marmolejo, the Visibility Expert, is doing a class on getting started with social networking, "How to Get Free Publicity and Attract New Clients." (I'm signed up so I'll see you there!) Once you get to her site, follow the Services link:
