"Kendall, how DO you get it all done?!"
I
hear this question all the time. At first I didn't see what the big
deal was and lightly shrugged the question off. But over time, I see
that how I run my business is VERY different than how a lot of people
run theirs.
So I sat down one day
and quickly listed off all of the little habits, behaviors and
strategies I use on a daily basis. When I sat back and looked at the
list I realized it WAS a big deal!
The daily actions I was taking for granted were the very things most business owners were forgetting about or struggling with.
As I began to share these same habits with my
Brand Authenticity
members and Platinum clients, they too, started seeing powerful results
in their ability to be creative, make profitable decisions, stay calmer
throughout their day, and have more energy to focus on achieving their
goals.
So here are ten of the things
I do to make running my business smooth, fun and to keep me focused on
my high-payoff activities...enjoy!
* Make a daily list of your high-payoff actions and work the list IN ORDER.
* Don't
answer the phone except for once or twice a day (I know this sounds
radical but trust me, you'll thank me when you see how much more you
get done when you ignore your phone!).
* Batch
emails and phone calls (yes, even from your team). Batching might well
be the 9th wonder of the world! My team currently only sends me a
"batch" (thinking "grouping of questions" here) on Tuesday and Thursday.
* Commit to taking ONE marketing action each day.
* Do the big stuff first (the little stuff will fit its way in).
* Put
time for YOU first in the morning. For me, this is time with my horses.
It means I have less time to work which demands that I be more
productive!
* Don’t
look at anything that pulls your energy down (be ruthless about this!).
For example, I don't see the unsubscribe emails or anything that is
negative. This includes not wasting time on complaining or whining
about things like the dry cleaner or the rude driver. This is a HUGE
time waster!
* If
there’s a problem, focus on how to positively solve it instead of
churning on how unfair or ridiculous it is. This one action alone has
saved me HOURS every week, not to mention has helped me stay positive,
upbeat and happy while I work. Sound silly? Happy people get more done!
* Hire
out house cleaning, grocery shopping and errands. This costs very
little (you can ask a high school student or a retired person) but
saves you tons of hours and energy you can use for things you love to
do or that make you mo'ney.
* Set
bold, outrageous in/come goals. Creating a Bold Mo'ney Goal will get
you to pay attention to what pays off, not just pay attention to what
is asking for your attention.
My
coaching request for you is to pick one item from this list and
implement it immediately. Then, next week, choose a new item. In as
little as ten weeks you can set new habits that keep you focused on
achieving your vision of a "money AND soul" based business!
