What does the expression "unlimited potential” mean to you? What image does it bring to mind? Is it of someone holding a globe over their head, or of someone relaxed and at ease? Years ago, I thought unlimited potential meant being an action machine, pushing oneself to the limit. But now I think differently. Unlimited potential means tapping into your unique abilities, owning them fully, and expressing them with effortless ease.

Before we can begin to embrace the word “unlimited,” we need to focus on our limitations. Yes, that’s right! We need to accept our limitations before we can push beyond them. In truth, our limitations are not really our limits. Underneath those limitations is the seed of possibility for the whole of humanity.

Let’s look at an example. The reason you may not be scientific is that you may be artistic instead. If you look at it that way, then not having an interest in science is not really a limitation. Underneath not being a scientific person may lie the seed of opportunity to be a great artist.

It takes far more energy to strengthen our weaknesses than to build our strengths. If we begin by acknowledging our weaknesses and deciding not to focus on improving them, we can put our full energies into strengthening our strengths and giving away our weaknesses.

Those very things that we are not good at may not be our true calling.  Connecting with our calling and desires will put us in touch with our true potential. I believe that God does not give us the potential to do anything without first giving us the means to achieve it.
