Turn Down The Volume

As you may know from all the research that’s been done, stress can kill.

Believe it or not, stress is something you create yourself based on the way you think.  Like anything else it’s a choice made on an unconscious level.   Because I’ve heard it before, I know there may be people who will say, “I just get stressed, I can’t choose to not feel stressed.”  Yes, you can.    There are many ways in which you can turn down stress and make your days more positive.

Sometimes it’s just a matter of checking in with yourself.   Often when you have tension or stress, it’s because there is something that needs to be resolved and the more you think about the issue the more stressed you allow yourself to get.   When you feel yourself getting anxious or stressed, ask yourself a question.

“Do I have control over this situation?”  If the answer is no, find ways to let it go.   If the answer is yes, decide on an action to deal with it so that you can move on.

Lack of money can create huge amounts of stress if you allow it.  Financial planning can mean a comfortable life later on.  Worrying about money so that it creates stress is not the answer.  Decide how you can build your finances so that you have enough for your retirement years. The younger you are the easier this is to do.  However, it’s never too late.  When you feel secure financially, money won’t be a stress factor.

Because time is so precious to most people and we worry about not having enough time to get everything done this too can cause stress.   Focus on accomplishments instead of time.   Focus on what fulfilling things you want to accomplish during a day.

Select the three most important things you want to accomplish in a given day and then set about getting those things done.  It may sound simple, but the feeling of fulfillment you will get at the end of such a day is incredible.  Plus, if you focus on actually accomplishing important things, your life will start to improve because you will no longer be emphasizing those small to-do items that really don’t matter down the road.

When you take control of your time and your finances as well as changing your thinking and your attitude, you will be able to eliminate much of the stress in your life and enjoy more affluence as well.

If you find it more exciting to thrive on doing things at the last minute because it gets your adrenaline pumping, you might want to take the adrenaline quiz at www.theastonishingpowerofyou.com/adrenaline_test.htm.

It’s time to de-stress and spend your days being productive and energized. This makes it easier to attract from the universe what you really want in life.  These few simple techniques can make changes in your ability to let go of stress. Give yourself whatever you need to have positive energy.

•    Take a walk around the block.  If you are in an office environment, walk to another office or down the hallway.  Walking releases endorphins.

•    When you have a negative thought of any kind, always move from the spot where it occurs.  It can be just two steps but this breaks the subconscious pattern.  Replace the thought with something positive.

•    Deep breathing – stop at least once an hour and take 6-12 deep breaths.

•    Shoulder shrugs – this releases tension in your neck.

•    Schedule some time just for you every day.  Feeling good about taking care of yourself allows you to decrease stress.

If you make a habit of doing at least one of these on a regular basis throughout each day, it will stop you from getting emotionally stressed and will help to release endorphins that create positive energy.

When you turn down the volume on stress you open yourself to being able to move through your days personally and professionally with ease and comfort.
