I’m chuckling about the BUZZ that
has been generated on the movie “The Secret”. Everyone’s talking about it. Are
you?
The Laws of Attraction have been
topics of conversations for decades and the concepts have been around for
thousands of years.
In a nutshell - you are the
Source and Creator of your life. What you think and give attention to
manifests intoyour reality. If you accept this as truth, you must let go
of blaming people and situations for the circumstances of your life. That
being said,
imagine what you can deliberately create and attract into
your life!
In order to successfully apply the Laws of Attraction you must have both
the vision of what you want and hold the intention to have it. The biggest
mistake people make in manifesting what they want is with their intention. Let
me explain…
Let’s say you want to attract
more money, a loving relationship, or a new career. At first you’re excited and
want to see miraculous results immediately. Initially, it might seem as
if
nothing is happening. That’s why holding your intention is so
important because eventually (often sooner than later), you will begin to
attract what you want.
Why do some intentions take so
long or fail to manifest what you want? Some key reasons are:
1. You drop the ball by
losing your focus on your intention.
To attract something you must put energy
into its creation. In “The Secret”you repeatedly hear that your
thoughts have the power to create your reality. In other words, thoughts are
things and what you think, manifests into reality. What you put your attention
on expands. How determined, focused and persistent you are in your intention
will affect what you manifest.
Remember to add ACTION to anything
you wish to attract. Intention + action= manifesting what you want.
2.Your intentions are not really what you want. Your emotions
play a big part in what you create. Too often we focus on what others value or
what we think we should want rather than listening to our hearts. Your passions
give juice to your thoughts whichfuels your power to create. If you’re
not excited or joyful about your intentions, you’re on the wrong path.
3. Your intention is
unclear.
The
Universe is very specific. Have you heard the phrase,
“Be careful what you
wish for…” I have a good friend who was wishing for a loving relationship.
She wrote down all the qualities she wanted in a romantic partner and met
someone very special. Yup, he was available except he was gay. She forgot to
specify that point. Fuzzy intentions lack generating power. If you want to
attract more money, specify an exact amount. Make your intentions clear and
focused and they will become laser-like beacons that accelerate your
manifestations.
4. You accidentally
cancel your intention.
How might you do that? By having conflicting beliefs! Ok - how many times
have I talked about this, right? If your intent is to attract wealth and you
hold beliefs like,
“I don’t deserve to have money, I’m not good
enough/smart enough, I’ll always have money problems, then you’ll be
short-circuiting the power of your thoughts by neutralizing your creating
energy. That’s like putting a damin the middle of a flowing
stream. That’s why I continue to advocate the critical value
ofself-awareness work - getting to know who you really are. The good news
is that once you identify conflicting beliefs you can transform them with the
right tools.
5. You sabotage your
intentions.
Negative
self talk and emotions like fear, frustration, self-criticism, or judgments
will neutralize intentions. If you notice yourself sliding into
negativity, you can catch yourself from spiraling down by shifting your
focus. Put your attention on all the gifts, and blessing in your life
instead. Practicing gratitude will help you focus your
intentions.AND, be discerningabout the people withwhom you
share your intentions. Other people’s negativity can affect your ability to
create. Remember, thoughts are things!
Each morning I begin my day with
the following statement: “
Hmmm, What shall I create today?” I love
imagining the possibilities.
How about you? What will you create today?
