Time-saving tips are a great way to start any week, so we are focusing on some plugins to boost the effectiveness of your WordPress blog.
Time-Saving Tip: 17 Top Plugins
Load speed is becoming more and more of a factor for blogs and websites. Competition for people’s attention, a second or two can make all the difference between someone staying on your site and going elsewhere.
So, I was very interested to read Neal Schaffer’s post on Social Media Today titled “The 17 Best WordPress Plugins for Social Media, SEO, and Better Visitor Engagement in 2013.” he emphasizes the importance of a fast, clean-running site, and notes:
Everyone’s particular experience with WordPress will be different, but since I’ve always run a content-heavy site, I’ve become obsessed with increasing the performance of how quickly this website runs for the average user.
He adds that, while the details of how Google rankings work are not known, it is clear that site load speed is a factor.
Time-Saving Tip: Less is More
So, using fewer plugins is one piece of advice for speeding up your site. But that’s not all. The quality of your plugins (i.e. how well the code is written) can have a big impact. And finally, there are plugins that help increase speed, clean up messy code, etc. They are going to, by definition, give a boost to your SEO.
Time-Saving Tip: SEO Plugins Help, Too
Here at The Time Finder we continue to very happily use the same SEO plugin that we installed (on Connie Ragen Green’s recommendation back in 2011). And we are pleased to see that it still ranks right at the top in 2013! It’s Joost de Valk’s (aka Yoast’s) WordPress SEO Plugin – a very user-friendly, powerful SEO tool that walks you through the basics of SEO for your site and for each and every item that you post.
Are you finding ways to make your blog faster and more user (and SEO) friendly in 2013? It’s a great time to start!
