Solo-E makes the Top 100 Business Blogs List!
Terri Zwierzynski - The Solo-CEO: Content Marketing Strategist

What a great month it’s been for Solo-E! First we were named a finalist for “Website of the Year“. Then today I discovered we are no. 92 in John Crickett’s The Top 100 Business Blogs list. Wow!

Other blogs on the list of note: Seth Godin’s blog, DuctTape Marketing (John Jantsch), Fast Company, Small Biz Trends, and Escape from Cubicle Nation (Pam Slim). Pretty heady company! And those are just the ones I recognized…you’ll want to peruse the entire list, for there are a lot of goodies to be found!

Entrepreneur Lessons From the Lemonade Stand
Admin Text-Only Editing - Text Only Admin

For the past couple of weekends there have been a group of girls running a lemonade stand on the corner (great location!) in my neighborhod. It seems whenever I am running back and forth to soccer games or a tennis match those girls are out there raising money for various charities and running their enterprise.

As I kept making trips in and out of the neighborhood, I loved the progression I saw. Much like our own businesses – I saw their endeavor evolve. First they had a table, then chairs and then more chairs and then the awning. Just like us they had to add more support, supplies and structures to help them do what they set out to accomplish.

Five Critical Tips for Marketing Success
Terri Zwierzynski - The Solo-CEO: Content Marketing Strategist
  1. Understand the difference between your Target Market and your Niche. A target market has distinguishing demographic characteristics; for example, recently widowed professional women under 50. A niche gets more specific in characteristics that might not be as easily identifiable as demographics; using the previous example, you could further narrow the target market by including only women who want to remarry and don’t know how to meet suitable men.

“Website of the Year” finalist: Solo-E.com!!!
Terri Zwierzynski - The Solo-CEO: Content Marketing Strategist

I’m thrilled to announce that Solo-E.com has been named a finalist in the “Best Website of the Year” category for the 4th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

Wow! What an honor! And a wonderful opportunity for us to further spread the message that working solo can be financially and creatively fulfilling, without sacrificing personal freedom to make it happen.

You can read more about the Stevie Awards (maybe you want to enter for next year?) and help us reach more solo entrepreneurs by Digg-ing our press release. A brief mention in your blog or ezine would be the icing on the cake 😉

Thank you for being the inspiration that keeps Solo-E alive and evolving!

Single opt-in? Double opt-in?
Terri Zwierzynski - The Solo-CEO: Content Marketing Strategist

I’ve always been a big proponent of double opt-in for building your potential customer list online. Primarily because it adds a layer of protection against frivolous spam complaints — it’s hard to argue that you didn’t sign up when I have a record of you clicking the confirmation link.

This week I’ve learned of two colleagues’ experience with double opt-in: one positive, one negative. The difference? It all depends on who your customers are!
