What Are Your New Year’s Resolutions for Your Blog?

Want more clients?  Make more money? To build your list?.  One of the easiest ways to do that is to get more consistent with your content creation.  For most of us, blogging is the easiest way to do that because you can use the content you create on the blog on all of your social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Linked In plus whatever *new* platforms will be evolving in 2013.

Blogging is the secret sauce that will allow you to create a rocking business in 2013!

In the past two years, I have built a beyond six figures business.  Having a coach, doing teleseminars played a part – but I never would have built my list or increased my web traffic to the point where I was effective without blogging.   One of the best ways to get better at blogging is to set some concrete goals (or New Year’s resolutions) for your blog.

I created a step by step event marketing plan for the clients in my group and private coaching programs.  One of the things that stood out for the clients who watched the weekly video was how important pictures are in our marketing efforts here at Decisive Minds.

Here are five reasons to use pictures in your marketing:

  • A picture is sometimes worth a thousand words.  Clients like to see what they are getting. Using pictures to explain concepts often means less words and clearer text.
  • Search Engine Optimization Images open another place for your web page, blog or social media posts to be picked up by search engines.  All you need to do to take advantage of the SEO boost is use keywords in your image descriptions.

Why Are You Watching That?

What are you reading? What’s influencing your state of mind? What are you allowing into your life?

I was visiting a friend a few months ago. She seemed distracted and not altogether happy. After a little while I asked her what was bothering her? She told me that that morning she had gotten up in a great mood and with her morning cup of coffee, she had started to browse Facebook. She had seen a post from a ‘friend’ that had really disturbed her.

She told me that this friend, someone she actually knows in real life, sends very graphic and very disturbing posts about all kinds of abuse; children, animals, women.  She said that she likes to know what’s going on in the world but this had really upset her and made her feel quite depressed.

It really struck a chord with me.

And both times over that short span of two months, we as a small company with clients to serve, employees to support and year-end goals to meet, were in the middle of a major business launch.

Another truth: productivity and energy both depend on your providing the right fuel. Just like a car, when we aren’t fueled and properly maintained, we don’t run very well. When we don’t give ourselves the care that allow us to be at our best—we simply aren’t our best. We don’t perform at our highest potential, we don’t have our best gifts to give to others, and we simply don’t feel as good as we should. We don’t shine anymore.

We all need quality fuel (and I’m talking about a lot more than just food) to fuel the full, vibrant, unique life that we all want to live. Fueling doesn’t have to be difficult or radical.

He’s the one man who really knows if you’ve been good or bad. But did you additionally know that Santa also knows great marketing?

Just think about it. The jolly ol’ elf is one of the supreme marketers of all time – and nobody of us have even really seen him in the flesh!

So take a little advice from the guy who doesn’t fit the pop idol ideal (after all red suits and a belly like jelly aren’t exactly something the fashionistas rave about), but every year always makes a remarkable impression:

1. Stick with what works. Each year, Santa’s message is dependable. Santa Claus never changes his persona or what he stands for as he found one that works for him. All too often, business owners feel the need to jump on the ‘next big idea,’ even though what’s being done marketing-wise is established and accepted.
