A few days ago, I received an unexpected phone call Ande Anderson of MPower Marketing. Ande runs a series of super useful kick a** teleminars. I had been trying to get on her series for a while and the earliest she could get me on was sometime in 2013. Well, much to my surprise and delight, Ande was calling to see if I could fill a last minute opening in her schedule for her upcoming series. My interview is now on October 30. (I am honored to be part of her list of experts – the summit is free – sign up now)
I was able to take advantage of the opportunity to get on the call (which takes place in less than 2 weeks!) because I was prepared. I’ve created all the pieces I need to have in my business to make it easy for people to have me on their telesummits or to engage me as a speaker. Putting these things together is not hard and having them ready will make it a lot easier to say “yes” in the future.
Would you like to know what I have in my toolkit?
- A product to sell. This is how you make money for your time on the call. The product does not have to be spectacular (or even created yet), but it does need to be somewhere the organizer can see what you are up to. If you haven’t created a product yet – check out my 30 day product creation class.
- A irresistible freebie or bonus. Of course, I’m assuming you already have an opt in system. The other main goal of getting on a telesummit is growing your list. The better the bonus – the more people will sign up.
- A speaker sheet. A speaker sheet is simply a document with your photo, outlines of three talks that you give, a bio, and contact information. Having this all in one place saves a ton of time.
- A platform. Part of being part of a telesummit is having a way to get your audience on the call. Usually, this is done through e-mail – but if you are just starting out, having a facebook or Twitter following could help.
How far are you in getting these items in place? Would you be able to say “yes” to having an unexpected opportunity drop into your lap?
If you don’t have any of these in place, make a plan to start getting these together ASAP. They don’t have to be “rock star” quality. Just having the tools available will allow you to take advantage of all the wonderful and unexpected opportunities that will come your way.
