The content you share with your own list should always have a purpose and each piece may have a different purpose. Do you want to achieve great goodwill or do you want your content to be shared with others? Or, do you want readers to sign up for your mailing list or buy a product?
You may be thinking, “Well, Marty, of course, that’s just basic common sense.” And you’d be right. But you’d also likely be surprised at the number of people who don’t get that everything you put out there must have a purpose. Otherwise it’s just taking up space that could be better used for something that DOES have a purpose.
So, when creating your next piece of content for marketing your business, ask yourself, “what is the purpose of this piece?” You likely will find the answer in your Call to Action. What do you want the reader to do after they’ve read what you have to say?
