No matter where you live, or the climate you live in; the majority of people in the U.S. love holidays.
I must admit that I am a holiday junkie because I truly love people, especially people who enjoy being around other people.
I enjoy seeing people smiling and loving each other. I delight in the giving to those individuals who are less fortunate.
I wish it did not take a holiday to see the generous giving, the over-pouring of love, and even equally as important remembering to take care of one’s self during this season.
Here are three tips for taking better care of you during the holiday – especially for those who are a holiday junkie!
Plan Ahead. Of course, we’re going to enjoy Grandma’s pecan pie or Aunt Jane’s pralines, or indulge in an extra slice of cake during all of the holiday parties.
Why not eat a high-protein snack prior to leaving for the event, so that you won’t be as hungry so you don’t eat way too much.
Smaller Plate. There are so many tempting options on the buffet table at these holiday events, so limit your caloric intake through smaller portion sizes. Grab the smallest available plate and enjoy what I call a ‘tasting’ menu.
Schedule Your Exercise. Your exercise schedule will be very hectic this holiday season, so schedule your workouts just as you would any other appointment, party or event.
You don’t have to exercise daily, but try to commit to at least 3-4 days per week.
Instead of adding a few coins to that ever-clanging change cup, why not buy meals for several needy individuals. Something as simple as a sandwich can bring the brightest smiles to those in need.
