Celebrating milestones is an excellent way to mark goals achieved, plans fulfilled, and promises kept. But that’s not all. Celebrating milestones also replenishes your stores of energy and heightens your sense of the meaning and the preciousness of time. Here’s an example:
Celebrating a Finding Time Milestone …
We recently achieved a new benchmark over at EzineArticles.com – Polished Expert Status!
What this status means is that I recently hit the milestone of having 200 articles approved and published on EzineArticles.com! (Click here to open up my author page and take a look at the time management information I’ve made available there.)
200 articles certainly does feel like an accomplishment worthy of celebrating. It represents time spent, expertise shared, and steady effort over a span of time.
And steady is a key word here. Goals aren’t accomplished all at once. They involve many steps – along with the commitment and discipline involved in taking those steps – each and every one.
Celebrating: What It’s Really About!
So, celebrating a milestone isn’t really so much about the accomplishment itself as it is about all of the intervening steps – all the effort – that got you from where you were to where you are now.
When you celebrate you look back and give yourself warm validation for the journey you have made so far.
And, celebrating, you look ahead, too.
Energized by your achievement, you contemplate what you’ll do next. As your confidence grows, your reach extends further and further, as does your sense of what it is possible to accomplish in the time available.
So, celebrating is really a profound experience, when you let it in. It’s not the accomplishment, it’s you and your choices that you celebrate. Step by step by step, one choice after another, you have made something happen. This is so empowering!
