10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1….. Happy New Year! When the crystal ball dropped in Times Square at midnight on New Year’s Eve, did you find yourself like many others pondering what to do for the New Year in your career, business or life?
Here is what I have discovered with each passing year: “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
Rather than setting unrealistic intentions (goals) that just make you feel bad when you don’t reach them, this year I’d like to be your partner (coach) in creating lasting change from the inside out.
Remember that “a journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step”. This is one of the most quoted lines in Tao Te Ching.
Tao Te Ching reminds us that every endeavor, undertaking, attempt, strive or effort has a starting point – one single step. I believe that the single step must be accompanied by a ‘radical decision’ in order to see change.
Here is my question: “What is the biggest change you’d like to make in your career, business or life?” If you don’t know, spend some time deciding what you need to change, modify, improve or transform your career, business or life.
Now break that big change into small actionable increments of one step at a time. I promise you will reach your goals as long as you stay the course. Remember – its one step at a time.
One more question: “Have you ever found yourself driving along and after arriving at your destination; you realized that you were not really aware of anything that you passed or what happened along the way?”
If so, make 2015 different. Start by: 1) defining what success looks like for you; 2) taking one step at a time; 3) changing (modifying, improving or transforming) your lifestyle; and 4) developing a new attitude!
