There is one thing I’m repeatedly asked in my sales conversations with potential clients – “What can you do to help me make the process of growing my business easier?”.
My answer is, “We need to give your business and LIFE a WHY plan”.
Once I meet with my clients for their first Jumpstart Session I begin to get to know them, their goals and the reasons behind why they have or want to have a business.
As entrepreneurs or ones in the making, we get wrapped up in the day to day details and forget the BIG Picture – the reasons why we want a business to begin with.
There’s a wonderful book you must read by Michael Gerber called “E-Myth Revisited”. He talks about building your business correctly from the start.
He’s referring to systems and I completely believe in the importance of them. But I also believe that along with systems you must have a purpose behind what you’re building. This purpose needs to be at the forefront of your business model.
That’s why I believe there is one essential plan you need to have for your business.
It’s your “Why Plan”
This plan is the reason you have a business. It’s the reason behind why you’re leaving corporate or fighting to never return. It’s about a business that has purpose and meaning so that in your darkest hours you dig down deep into your reason for having one and remember why it’s worth it.
It’s so that on those days when you’re ready to throw in the towel or when the client you wanted to sign didn’t join your program and you crumble in a corner in tears, that you have something to hold onto that pulls you through it.
Every business needs a “Why Plan” and I’d like to challenge you to find yours. It may include how much money you want to make, how many vacations you go on, how you’d like to be home for your children, how you’d like to buy a boat. It doesn’t matter what your reason is, it matters more that you have one.
To have a Freedom based business you need to uncover your “Why’s” and keep them front and center in your business plan.
When you find your reason(s) I’d like you to write them all out on a sheet of paper or journal and then I’d like you to revisit them often.
Why? Because you need to remember on those days when you’re doubting whether or not you should be doing this work that there’s something or many things calling you to keep muscling through it until you create the very business you desire.
