Sophie Zollmann - Certified Online Business Manager/Social Media Manager

If you’re starting your business, it’s likely that your clients are creeping in slower than a sleepy snail. For others, certain times will be sluggish due to weather, tourism, holidays, etc. When it happens, don’t despair – and don’t drown your sorrows by binge-watching an entire season of Downtown Abbey!

Embrace this slow time as an opportunity to invest in your operations and marketing processes. Doing this will set you up to have your business running smoothly when you’re in the thick of it again. Here’s a handy little checklist of things you can work on during your downtimes:

  1. Create an editorial calendar for your newsletters, blog posts, and emails
  2. Create form letters and reply templates
  3. Get your finances up to date, especially if you file quarterly taxes
  4. Network! Join Meetup and find groups that suit your needs and interests
  5. Review your business plan and make necessary updates
  6. Work on creating a well of evergreen blog posts you can use when you don’t have time to write something new
  7. Expand or deepen your social media presence
  8. Create online-only deals or offers
  9. Touch base with existing clients to build these relationships
  10. Edit, improve & expand your website
  11. Create a referral system
  12. Host an event
  13. Meet with businesses whose services complement yours and plan joint ventures

When you’re busy again, you won’t necessarily have the time to tackle all of these tasks, but they can all help boost your business in big and small ways. If you need a little help getting going, contact me! I can help with any or all of these, and your business will be buzzing with activity in no time.
